Working With Sage & The Six Nations

We have kicked off the start of 2023, by reuniting with Guinness Six Nations to capture, edit and post content for their social media pages, primarily their TikTok. 

Like last year with the Autumn Nation Series, we have produced the Road to Guinness Six Nation series on TikTok. A 12 part video series that is native to TikTok, where we utilised both access to players and legends from the media launch day and clips from previous Guinness Six nations. Our videos covered everything from players watching the Championship to ‘Try Time’, where Danny Care and Jamie Roberts sampled some of each nation's well-known snacks. Our most successful video was our ‘Fantasy Picks’ from each Nations captain, with over 7 million views. 

While creating this series, we also had some exciting challenges to complete. We teamed up with Sage, who have created a ‘Smart Ball’. This ball will bring rugby fans even greater insights into the game. From enhancing their viewing experience through accurate time analytics and data captured through the Smart Ball’s technology! So if you want to know how hard the ball is kicked or the distance travelled, the Smart Ball can tell you.   So we needed to spread the word about this new Smart Ball to all rugby fans worldwide but how? Well, that’s where Social Bull Media steps in. We filmed, edited and delivered the Smart Ball explainer on how this ball works - we had a little help from some ex-professional rugby players. Former rugby players explained the ins and outs of the Smart Ball to the camera and we added extra motion graphics to the side of them to assist the telling of the story in a dynamic fashion. We created a version with former welsh captain Sam Warburton and Irish Rugby legend Tommy Bowe for the UK and Irish markets, with Maggie Alphonsi and George Gregan helping demonstrate the ball in action on the sidelines This January, we also made the explainer with former French Prop Ben Kayser and produced a version in both French and English. 

That’s not all we did with Sage - we produced a standalone round table series titled ‘Insightful Discussions’. We brought together former rugby captains of each different nation to sit around a table and give fans an insight into what it feels like to be a professional rugby player. We heard from Chris Robshaw, Rory Best and Mauro Bergamasco, all who offered brilliant insights into the ups and downs of carrying pressure, motivating your team and winning the Guinness Six Nations. The deliverables of this round table discussion included one long-form video on the Guinness Six Nations Youtube channel, as well as weekly episodic cutdowns around the various themes we covered in the long form.

And we still aren’t done yet! Using a slightly different type of content this time, we created an AR filter for this year's TikTok Challenge, #SixNationsChallenge. The AR filter comprised of randomised Six Nations' emoji icons which stopped on a different option each time, which would be pinned to the participants head. We then posted this onto the TikTok Effect House, allowing fans to connect to the tournament and interact with it whenever they see fit. They could do several games, be it creating your perfect XV, highlighting the new fantasy rugby game Pick 4, or even building their dream player. 

We’ve truly loved working with Guinness Six Nations, TikTok and Sage in order to create content for their social media channels. Next up we go again for the TikTok Women Six Nations. Watch this space!
